Adelaide - The Festival City of Australia
If you think about visiting Australia you should know about Adelaide, which city i visited last week. Adelaide is the capital city of South Australia with a population of 1.4 million people. The city is known for it's wine culture, it's affordable living and especially it's festivals. Adelaide has amazing parks, an elegant architecture and a great food scene.
Festivals & Best Times to Visit
If you ever come to Adelaide, you should definitely visit the fun festivals. The are many diverse art forms festivals, like the Adelaide Fringe Festival and the Adelaide Festival. Both take place in march. The world's largest free literature festival is there also located. The low seasons are in spring (march to may) and autumn (september to november), when the weather is warm and sunny, there are fewer tourists on the road and the prices are lower. Don't miss the chance to visit the beautiful wine growing region.
Shopping & Culture
If there is bad weather nothing speaks against a visit to the art gallery of south australia, which counts to one of the biggest art galleries in australia. Back in the centre there is the Rundle Mall, filled with many differnt stores. It's the perfect place to go shopping. Rundle Mall is full of fahsion, food spots and enterntainment.
One of my favorite places to visit is Adelaide's Botanic Garden. It is a botanical oasis in the heart of the city, where beautifully landscaped gardens, majestic avenues and elegant architecture create a must-visit destination.
Food & Dining Spots
After a hard day, you´re hungry and tired? I have the best spots for you.
Let´s start with SOL Rooftop. It´s a bar, which is located near a festival center. So if you had a great festival, you can get a great drink at the bar. It is not just known for their drinks, but also for there unlimited french fries action for just $8.
After your visit at the wonderful botanic garden, you should go to the famous restaurant Africola. With an african kitchen this restaurant enchant their guest. It´s definitly worth to visit and a must have after a very long day at the botanic garden.
Now we got a little Cafe in the middle of Adelaide. For the finer guests. It´s a Cafe known for their own party room at the same street. So after a little dance you can get a coffee or something at the Peter Rabbit Cafe.
River Torrens & Water Adventures
If you like nature the River Torrens is the perfect place for you. The kayak tour across the river is a must have for every visiter. You´re not just theire for a boring kayak tour, you can also do watersports,dragon boating, ride zip lines and also waterskiing. You can also paddel out of the river in the big ocean. And maybe you think what´s so special about the ocean?! It´s not just a beautiful view, you can also paddel just a few centimeters next to dolphins. How cool is that?! I think it´s a must have for family with kids and of course also for the familys without kids. A beutiful tour!
